Through his passion for classical music, Calgary Multicultural Orchestra leader and clarinetist Jose Gregorio Duque connects with children on an important level, by releasing each child’s inner strength and creativity. Under the former Venezuelan’s sensitive leadership, low-income immigrant youth are given the opportunity to learn, make and share music. His deep sense of community, strong teaching skills and ability to connect are both an artistic and inspirational triumph. Teaching more than 70 multicultural students every year, Jose speaks to young musicians in the common language of music, drawing them together into a polyglot and enthusiastic musical community.
